Step 3 | Implementation and Monitoring
|
Strengthening implementation support can be done by developing partnerships with women’s groups, building client capacity—including through on-the-job learning—for the gender focal points and project staff, and where necessary identifying expertise for project support. It is important that an individual on the project team has clear responsibility for supervising and supporting the implementation of the Gender Action Plan (GAP), in line with the agreed monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework.
This may be a dedicated gender expert or the existing social development or safeguards expert within the team with an explicit additional focus on the gender dimensions of the project. Adequate funding for supervision (or implementation support) and monitoring is also important. Progress, lessons learned and intermediate results can be documented through existing project documents such as aide-mémoires, knowledge exchange documents and mid-term reviews.
The following tools can assist with implementation and monitoring of the activities under the gender action plan.
