Residential buildings account for 74% of global building energy use. Service buildings – mostly commercial ones - are responsible for 26%. Projections show that the residential sector will comprise the bulk of new construction. Still, both types of buildings face challenges in reaching their energy efficiency potentials.
ESMAP’s approach integrates energy efficiency with renewable energy and other sustainability aspects in buildings, including construction, retrofitting, energy use and location.
