Mini Grids

Mini Grids will play a critical role in meeting universal energy access by 2030. Technological innovations and stronger policy environments are making them a scalable option for expanding energy services in low access areas like Sub-Saharan Africa, parts of South Asia, and Small Island Developing States.

ESMAP’s Global Facility on Mini Grids works with key partners such as Department for International Development, International Finance Corporation, Climate Investment Funds and Scaling up Renewable Energy Program to incorporate mini grids into World Bank investment projects, share global knowledge, build local capacities and leverage partnerships.
