Preliminary outputs from the Pakistan country project under the ESMAP Renewable Energy Resource Mapping Initiative are now available for download and dissemination. These include reports providing interim estimates of the solar and wind resource in the country, plus a scoping report carried out by the UN Food & Agricultural Organization on biomass mapping. In addition, ESMAP has commissioned a new Energy Open Data Platform (in beta development), which is now hosting ground-based measurements from four solar measuring stations installed across Pakistan. Highly accurate data is now available from November 2014 onwards, with an array of charts and other tools available to users.

Complementing its Renewable Energy Project Resource Center, ESMAP has launched an Energy Efficiency Project Resource Center (EEPRC) in cooperation with the open wiki-platform Energypedia. The EE Project Resource Center offers a repository of documents and templates related to energy efficiency project development (such as sample terms of reference, surveys and questionnaires, examples of economic and financial analysis, and case studies). The main objective is to make EE project planning and implementation more efficient, reducing costs associated with having to create new working documents from scratch as well as to facilitate knowledge exchange across organizations and countries.

An ESMAP-supported World Bank heating assessment of the urban building sector in the Kyrgyz Republic analyzed the condition and performance of the countryâs urban heating infrastructure and building stock, and evaluated in detail the available heating options in Bishkek and Tokmok.
