Stage 8.2 Monitor the performance of the adaptation measures
Who's Involved
              - Energy sector managers, guided by Assignment Management Team

Timing and time required
              - On an ongoing basis
 - As part of routine operations

Key questions
              - Did the adaptation measures deliver the expected benefits?
 - Were the costs of the adaptation measures as anticipated?
 - What lessons can be learned that could be usefully applied elsewhere?

Tools
              - Adaptation Strategy and Workplan for implementing adaptation measures

Guidance
              - Monitoring should be undertaken to ensure that the actions in the Adaptation Strategy and Workplan are being carried out and that the adaptation measures are proving effective in managing climate-related risks.
 - SMART indicators (see Stage 8.1) should be developed to monitor the performance of adaptation actions.
 - Where flexible adaptation options have been selected (see Stage 4.1), monitoring can help to decide when the options need to be increased, in line with observed changes in climate-related risks.
 - Based on the monitoring, the Adaptation Strategy and Workplan should be reviewed and updated as required.

Outputs
              - SMART targets
 - Updated Adaptation Strategy and Workplan
