New Briefing Notes Summarize ESMAP's Support to South Africa's Energy Conservation and Efficiency Measures

The demand for electricity in South Africa has gone up by 60 percent between 1994 and 2006. It is therefore necessary to implement energy efficiency and demand side management measures to help the country cope with an imminent power crunch says a newly released ESMAP Briefing Note. The note further outlines support offered to South Africa by the World Bank and ESMAP to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
