ESMAP is preparing a state of the cookstoves sector report in close collaboration with the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. The report will document international clean cookstoves dissemination experiences, summarize challenges and barriers to large scale adoption of clean cooking fuels and stoves, and recommend appropriate intervention strategies. It will inform a priority intervention road map that the Alliance is preparing to guide future implementation efforts. ESMAP joined the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves last year and has been a partner to create a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions.
Furthermore, a new Bank report on cookstoves was presented at an event organized by the UN Foundation-led Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC), at the Vienna Energy Forum on June 21.
The report, Household Cookstoves, Environment, Health and Climate Change: A New Look at an Old Problem, identifies a combination of critical factors that could be “game changers” in providing safe and clean household energy to the poorest people of the developing world. The report was presented by Vijay Iyer, World Bank Director for Energy, Oil, Gas & Mining, Rohit Khanna, Program Manager, ESMAP and Sameer Akbar, Senior Environmental Specialist, World Bank.
