Low Carbon Country Studies: Mexico

The Mexico low carbon study provided an analysis of how the country could significantly reduce its emissions without hindering economic growth. Making of a common cost-benefit analysis including externality values where possible, the study assessed low carbon interventions in five key sectors:

  • Electric Power | generation and distribution.
  • Oil and Gas | extraction, processing and distribution.
  • Energy End-Use | energy efficiency in the manufacturing and construction industries, and the residential, commercial and public sectors.
  • Transport | primarily road transportation.
  • Agriculture and Forestry–crop and timber production, forest land management, and biomass energy.

This project is part of ESMAP’s support for low carbon development.
