ESMAP to Provide Key Inputs for World Bank Support to Sustainable Energy for All

The global Sustainable Energy for All initiative calls for concerted action to achieve universal energy access, a doubling of the share of world energy supplied by renewable sources, and a doubling in the rate of improvement in energy efficiency – all by 2030.  The World Bank declared its support for the initiative at the Rio+20 conference, with a number of the key inputs of this support coming from ESMAP.  These inputs include scaled up support for energy efficiency in citiesmapping of renewable energy resources, and new initiatives to support development of geothermal power generation.  ESMAP will also work together with the World Bank’s energy unit and a consortium of international agencies to produce a report that will mark the baseline for progress towards the three Sustainable Energy for All goals.
