Meeting the Energy Needs of the Urban Poor 2007

The present report was prepared on the basis of the findings of an international workshop held from September 12-14, 2005, in Salvador da Bahia.

The workshop was designed and financed by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP)/ World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Cities Alliance, Electricité de France (Edf), the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and COELBA, the Electricity Company of Bahia. The richness of the material generated from the workshop led to the decision to issue an analytical document instead of standard proceedings, in order to capitalize on both the literature and the presentations and discussions during the workshop.
